WEEK 64: Achievement Unlocked: Gunshots en el Guasmo

Image
Buenaaas tardes yall This week FLEW by. I cant even believes that its Monday again but let's get into it.  This past Wednesday (I think) my companion and I were turning left on a corner when we heard 4 gunshots a block away from us to our right so we started running. Don't worry mom, we are safe 😁 The coolest part about that experience for me was that I didn't feel scared at all. I heard the gunshots and knew what they were but I felt normal, and I felt a peace. It reminded me a lot of president Russell M. Nelson's talk this past conference when he was in times of danger but felt an unmistakable peace.  We also had a baptism yesterday! We baptized a girl named Ashley and we started teaching her 3 weeks ago! It was so cool to see how her faith has grown and to see her decision to follow Christ and receive the blessings of baptism.  Alma 57:21 and 27 21 Yea, and they did obey and observe to perform every word of command with exactness; yea, and even according to thei...

WEEK 63: Achievement Unlocked: The Book Of Mormon

Image
Yo wsg. This past week absolutely FLEW by. I literally have no idea how it's pday already.  My comp has been teaching me how to cook so this past week I bought some chicken and made my first healthy meal in the mission 💪 We found a new familiy this week and they all showed up to church after 4 days of teaching them! The mom is super awesome and already believes in the gospel and is telling her kids and husband that its true.  This past week I have developed a huge love for the Book Of Mormón. I'm not gonna lie, my whole mission I've kinda slacked on my study of the scriptures. I have watched conferences talks, book of mormon videos, read PMG, but none of them are good substitutes for ACTUALLY reading the scriptures.  This past week I prayed so that I could have the desire to read the scriptures and now, it's one of the only things I look forward to in my day.  I have been reading in Alma in the story of captain Moroni and wanted to share with you all this scr...

WEEK 62: Achievement Unlocked: Its NOT about YOU

Image
Buenos días a todos!  This past Thursday we had zone conference! It was also halloween so the other elders and I pulled up with spiderman masks in our suits. We learned a lot about our mision purpose and finding the "Why" in why we are serving a mission  On Friday we had Interviews with president and It was pretty cool. We talked about things that could be stopping me from progressing as a missionary and my favorite page in Preach my Gospel. I love being able to talk with president. He also gave me a chocolate chip cookie and it was so good because I hadnt eaten a chocolate chip cookie in 14 months 😋 Last transfer was pretty tough for me. I had a hard time with my companion, área, and the people we were teaching. I hit an all time low and got pretty homesick and lost my desire to work as a missionary. During my personal study I read Alma 32:28 28 Now, we will compare the word unto a seed. Now, if ye give place, that a seed may be planted in your heart, behold, if it be...

WEEK 61: Achievement Unlocked: 17 New Pople at Church??

Image
Gooood morning, good afternoon and good night depending on when you read this.  This week was a grind. Every day we were inviting people to church, confirming more visits and teaching baptism. This past sunday we had 9 new people in our sector come to church and 8 new people in the other elders sector come! (We share a ward with 2 other elders) for a total of 17 new people 💪 As of right now we have 3 people on date for baptism and at the end of this next week we will have 6 people with a baptism date  This week the other elders and I made this one food called patacones (you gotten try them)  Today for Pday were going to go play soccer and then chilling in the church and watch movies and stuff  Spiritual Thought:  Today I feel impressed to talk about free agency. And I'm going to put a video down below for you all to watch. I watched this video with the other elders one night and it does a really good job explaining what is agency and how we use our agenc...

Yooo wsg a todos.  This past week I got a new companion! His name is Elder Hernandez from Guatamala and dudes a beast 😤  We have been working a ton here in the sector but unfortunately we had to drop around 20 people for not being interested or not progressing. So this week is gonna be focused on finding finding finding.  Also I want to say I have been super bad at responding to messages 😅 I've been super busy every week so on P-days I just relax and hangout with the other elders  Highlights**  -We have been playing card games every night and I'm a beast at Sorry revenge  - I scored a header in the top right corner of the goal and then did a roundoff backfill - I did a baptismal interview for a 13 year old kid and he passed and is getting baptized on Saturday 💪💪 -I hit 14 months on the mission today and it's crazy how fast the time is flying by  My spiritual thought this week is to follow the prophet. Pilas  The Lord Jesus Christ Will C...

WEEK 58: Achievement Unlocked: General Conference Pt 3

Image
What's good yall. It's been a little while since I've written and email so let's get into it.  General conference this weekend was super good! Follow the profet and start preparing for the second coming 🫡  Last Pday I got to go play golf at a golf course here in Guayaquil with my zone. It was super weird because I live in the trashiest place in Guayaquil and we drove an hour to the nicest place and I felt like I was back home in the good old U S of A.  Speaking of the U.S. I have officially been living in ecuador for a year. It's so crazy how this crazy place is just normal life. Let's go over some of my favorite things about Ecuador.  Food: -Encebollado  -patacones -bolon -seko de pollo  -Biri-Biri -I finally like eating fish  - ceviche  - alitas Culture:  - Iguanas  - the beach  - the word ñaño  - trici motos  - buses  Spiritual Thought:  Have you ever been in a funk? Have you ever felt like your are wa...
