WEEK 62: Achievement Unlocked: Its NOT about YOU

 Buenos días a todos! 


This past Thursday we had zone conference! It was also halloween so the other elders and I pulled up with spiderman masks in our suits. We learned a lot about our mision purpose and finding the "Why" in why we are serving a mission 

On Friday we had Interviews with president and It was pretty cool. We talked about things that could be stopping me from progressing as a missionary and my favorite page in Preach my Gospel. I love being able to talk with president. He also gave me a chocolate chip cookie and it was so good because I hadnt eaten a chocolate chip cookie in 14 months 😋

Last transfer was pretty tough for me. I had a hard time with my companion, área, and the people we were teaching. I hit an all time low and got pretty homesick and lost my desire to work as a missionary. During my personal study I read Alma 32:28

28 Now, we will compare the word unto a seed. Now, if ye give place, that a seed may be planted in your heart, behold, if it be a true seed, or a good seed, if ye do not cast it out by your unbelief, that ye will resist the Spirit of the Lord, behold, it will begin to swell within your breasts; and when you feel these swelling motions, ye will begin to say within yourselves—It must needs be that this is a good seed, or that the word is good, for it beginneth to enlarge my soul; yea, it beginneth to enlighten my understanding, yea, it beginneth to be delicious to me.

As I read this scripture I realized I hadnt been doing the best job at truly wanting to read the scripture or truly Wanting to pray. I was doing things just because it's what I have done every day for the past 14 months of my life. 

As soon as I realized this I Desired to read the scriptures with real intent, to truly pray to my father in heaven and have a conversation with him. 

I testify that I'm still not perfect and there are still days where I don't have the biggest desire. But I have started to feel more happy every day. I have started to find more joy in every little detail of the day. Not only when we are out teaching or in the house. 

 I would like to invite you all to do the same. If you're not reading the scriptures? NOW is the time to do it. If you're not praying? NOW is the time to do it. If you're not going to church? NOW is the time to do it. And I promise you, you will find JOY. 

2 Nephi 2:25
25 Adam fell that men might be; and men are, that they might have joy.

 Feliz Año!!  I'm not gonna lie the New Year was CRAZY here. There were fireworks going off literally everywhere. All along the horizon and people were lighting fireworks off in front of our house so they were above us too. It was awesome.  There are these things here called munigotes and they are paper machete statues of every USA thing you could think of and at the end of the year they fill them up with dynamite and just light them off in the streets. We weren't able to watch any unfortunately because we had to be in our house at 6pm yesterday.  Last night we played 5 crowns because one of the elders in my house brought it from home and we had sparkling cider as well. It was super cool because that's what my family at home ended up doing for new years as well. It was cool to live that tradition 4000 miles away lol. We had transfers this past week and I am still in my same area in the peninsula with my Guatemalan companion AND we're finally not in a trio anymore....

Week 99: ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED: BOM Miracle

  Wsg yall  First off I just wanna say that the Book of Mormon is TRUE. Like holy cow every single time I read it there is no doubt in my mind that God truly called prophets to the Americas and he called them to write their history and dealings with God  Increíble  This week we contacted a evangelist-Christian with the BOM. We asked her if her kids wanted to accompany us in the lesson but she said no because they follow her and her religion. She explained to us that she already knew Christ and that she didn't need to know more about him. We offered to give her the BOM and she said, "No but please give it to someone who has an open heart and is willing to listen to your message" So we left.  A couple minutes later a truck pulled up next to us and called us over. WEEK 29: Achievement Unlocked: The Office

  This week started off like normal. A little slow, not really teaching anybody, the usual. My comp and I started making plans on how to improve the sector and we were talking about writing a song because we got permission to play guitar throughout the week.  This week was also transfer week. My comp and I didn't think much of it because we white washed the sector, which means we both started at the same time. We hopped on a call and I heard, "Elder Johnson has transfers". WHAT. How the heck do I have transfers? I was distraught, sad, angry. I didn't want to leave the sector or live with new elders and a new companion. I also had only been in my sector for 1 transfer. I eventually said bye to all the members, and packed my bags.  Transfer day. We drove to the office and I was nervous. I didn't know where I was going or who I would be put with.
