WEEK 29: Achievement Unlocked: The Office
This week started off like normal. A little slow, not really teaching anybody, the usual. My comp and I started making plans on how to improve the sector and we were talking about writing a song because we got permission to play guitar throughout the week.
This week was also transfer week. My comp and I didn't think much of it because we white washed the sector, which means we both started at the same time. We hopped on a call and I heard, "Elder Johnson has transfers". WHAT. How the heck do I have transfers? I was distraught, sad, angry. I didn't want to leave the sector or live with new elders and a new companion. I also had only been in my sector for 1 transfer. I eventually said bye to all the members, and packed my bags.
Transfer day. We drove to the office and I was nervous. I didn't know where I was going or who I would be put with. The way transfers work here is that the zone leaders tell you that you have transfers, but you don't find out what your new sector is or who your new companion is until the day of transfers. So every missionary that has transfers gets together and then they call up the missionaries staying in their zone, and then the missionaries who are joining the zone and then put missionaries together like a draft.
I got put with Elder Obando from Quito Ecuador and he's pretty sick. We both have the same amount of time on the mission which is kind of funny lol. He knows a good amount of English so before we teach he will tell me what we are teaching in English. Also, I am now an office elder. Me and my companion are the social media technology specialists. Which means everyday we go to the offices and we receive references from Facebook, call the people and ask where they live, and then send those references to the missionaries. Its pretty cool. I've sent references to different missions as well including Guayaquil south, Peru, Quito. Its pretty fun.
Along with being an office elder, I also get my own phone. This is necessary because my companion and I are calling people all day and sometimes call people at the same time.
My new sector is called 9 de Enero and its this big hill here in Guayaquil. We split the area with 2 other elders and the other elders have the HUGE hill and we have a smaller hill off to the side. (Its still pretty big)
When I first saw the hill I was like, pshh this isn't bad at all. Then we started walking closer, and closer... and.. closer. And I said, "Holy freaking guacamole" and realized just how huge it was. My first day we walked up at least 200 stairs to get to a members house for lunch. And holy moly do my legs burn after walking up and down the hill lol.
NGL being in the offices is weird because I see and talk to the APs, President, and the other missionaries in leadership. And its just casual lol. Also the Aps are in my district sooo I gotta be consecrated.
My first couple days I didn't talk much. I was super stressed with the new task at hand. I also was nervous about having my own phone, more responsibility, and being in a group chat with other missionaries and mission presidents and having missionaries texting us about references. But im starting to get used to it which is good.
This week I saw the God of peace. This week I was super stressed, with a lot of feeling of inadequacy. With a lot of prayer I have been able to feel his love for me, and also the peace that comes with trusting in the lord
Scripture-> read all of Enos in the book of Mormon (Its only 1 chapter lol)
Anywho, that's about it this week, I hope you all had an amazing week and also have an amazing week. Chau 🫡
